I recently read comments by an Amway IBO that totally cracked me up. He said when he was recruited, he was told up front that Amway is not get rich quick nor is it easy. Then in closing, this 22 year old said he will be retiring at the age of 27 and living large. It is very redundant for IBOs to claim that they think AMway is hard work and will not allow them to get rich quick. It that were the case, why would they join in the first place instead? Obviously something appealed to them in the pitch.
But it brings me to another point and that is this. Do IBOs actually know anyone who is retired early because of the grand Amway income? I do not claim that nobody has done this, but I have not heard of anyone, nor do I know anyone who can make that claim. In fact, apparently, even the "Crown Ambassadors" are all still working their Amway businesses. It may seem glamourous to travel the country to speak at functions, but I can see how that can be tiring and at times, boring.
If these folks could actually "walk away" from their Amway businesses and collect residual income forever, why don't you hear about anyone doing it? Let's examins this possibility for a minute. Amway IBOs have a very low retention rate. Thus once anyone "walks away" from their business, it will immediately decline unless you have growing downline leaders in each of your legs. I will guess that this is not true of most diamonds and above. This can be concluded by the fact that most diamonds and above are not of the "founders" variety.
So I will ask prospects and current IBOs. If you are in the "biz for early retirement, are you on track to accomplish that or are you only dreaming about it?
joecool when I go diamond and retire, I will look you up and offer you a job as my yardman. You are a sorry little man.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering something Joe, has any of these "diamonds" offered you a job as of yet..it has been a few years since many have made that statement...I am sure they are making more money than they can imagine..
ReplyDeleteLOL- Mike, they cannot afford to pay anyone. I've been told I will be hired to clean toilets and wash cars. Nobody has yet made me a formal offer. LOL
ReplyDeleteFinally a voice of reason. I have been straining for a few months as to what exactly is that something that was gnawing away at my insides.
ReplyDeleteJoe, you are so cool as one of the worlds best critical thinkers...this is indeed the aspect that can be learned by others just listening to you. You have wisdom beyond your years! Please keep this blog up. I read it daily just as a reminder that when I joined Amway 3 months ago, I obviously did not exercise any critical thinking when I should have in the first place. I am currently one of those IBO's that are "walking away" at this point due to a rash of rational thinking. I got the feeling that spending so much of my personal time trying to generate recruits, going to meetings, etc were all a waste of time in the long run. Whay should I spend hundreds of dollars a month on Amway/Quixtar products to get a $10.00 check every month?????? Whew, Im glad I left so I do not have to try to convince myself that my irrational actions will pay off while I go broke to keep some upline guy/gal in business.
Anon the second, you just brought up a good point. I can remember when I was in and things weren't making sense how I tried to rationalize the absurd things that kept coming up. Al businesses need an element of faith when expanding, however, that faith is backed up by quite a bit of logical reason and thought out plans as well.
ReplyDeleteWe here day in and day out about how the AMQuix BUSINESS is the one to be in and we are simply too stupid to understand since we have quit. Business eh? BUSINESS...then this BUSINESS HAS TO MAKE LOGICAL BUSINESS SENSE, which the Amquix 'business' does not.
I can remember being like Anon the first above, running scared and hoping that this business did indeed work even though things wheren't adding up. You cling to the lies in the hopes that it will work for you.
This business only 'works' for the precious few, so few that it really shouldn't be operating at all.
Thats the bottom line, take it or leave it.

ReplyDeleteYeah the kind of business sense like keeping a P/L.
