Building Your Dreams Or Losing Your Shirt?

One of the issues I have with the Amway plan is that the newest IBO, possibly the one who does the most "Work", receives the smallest compensation. Amway pays about 32% of their income back in the form of bonuses. An IBO who does 100 PV receives a 3% bonus and somewhere, uplines and sponsors receive the rest. Some of the upline may not have even met the IBO who actually did the work. Is that really fair and is that a level playing field? What do some of these uplines do to deserve the lion's share of the bonus you worked to get? Yes, the upline diamond may show the plan in an open meeting, which may help you, but then again, you pay for entrance into that meeting.

Many uplines will talk about dreams and fulfilling your dreams. But if an IBO would stop and think for a moment, you can easily see that you are building the dreams of your upline, and not your own. You receive a tiny portion of the bonus for the volume that you move, and then in addition, if you are on the system, then you are also paying upline in the form of tool purchases for the priviledge of giving them bonuses with your product purchases.

It is why your upline diamonds can parade around on stage with designer suits and show you their fancy cars and mansions and other toys. It is because they are cashing in on your efforts. You are making their dreams come true. Your dedication to moving volume and purchasing standing orders are fulfilling dreams. The upline dreams. Yes, someday you can hope to have your own group of downline to exploit for your own benefit, but unless you are adding members to your group, you will never achieve the kinds of dreams that uplines talk about. In the meantime though, you are definitely helping someone upline achieve their dreams with every function you attend. Ironically, the upline leaders will tell you to never quit, even if they don't know your personal circumstances.

Here's a challenge for IBOs and/or prospects who are being recruited into the Amway business. 100 PV will cost around $300 a month and dedication to the tools system will cost you around $200 a month on average. Would you not be better off simply writing a check to your upline for $100 and not even joining? Would you not be better off staying home and watching television instead of joining? If you read all of the information available on this blog and still decide to join, goo d luck to you, but remember this: Whose dreams are being fulfilled by your participation? Yours or your upline?

  1. Joecool, if you fight for up-lines goals, you will find someone who will fight for your goals too! Your goals are not acheived by you alone, it is a sacred thing. More people you help more rewards you get in your life! When did you quit Amway? My memory still has it! You need to submit yourself to upline, he is your well wisher and life builder. Having submitted to most admired upline IBO, I put 120+ PV fighting for up line's goals. You know what either you produce PV through downlines, sales or personal purchases, if you have to be in good terms your PV count should match with what your up line's counselling sheet which his up line has prepared. This is truth is the only motivation to keep writing my blog. I recommend you guys to look at what happens in Amway plan to be shown to prospects, I managed to share a few material publicly available videos.

  2. I have several coworkers who are into this Amway stuff. They come off arrogant at times - the "I know what's best attitude" - but often just seem needy.

    I never had any interest in joining anything that outwardly demonstrated anything like a cult mindset, which this Amway setup seems to have.

    I never paid it much mind but I decided to look it up anyway out of curiosity. At first I came to a lot of pro Amway affiliate sites which all had company rhetoric "cut and pasted" on each one which immediately triggered my bullshit meter. Thus I googled in "Amway bullshit" and found myself at this blog shortly thereafter. The amount of information you have compiled, both statistical and personal, is impressive.

    I do have a question that I hope you can answer. One of the things I overhear from these coworkers of mine is that anyone in Amway is able to earn more than someone higher up than them if they sell the products well enough. Is there any truth to any of this? And if so how often would something like this actually occur?

    1. There is an outward truth in saying so. For example if you have six platinums (21% comission for each in deifferent group of people personally sponsored by you) and for your up line, you are the only platinum group then you are supposed to make money in the ideal world. However, you might want to look at Amway Business Reference Guide (either Google it or get it at amwayscam.wordpress.com). There you get an info on how your efforts are gobled up by your up line. Whatever I said just now is never practical when it comes to passing your share of bonus to your up line and I am not in a position to explain the whole process here, so business guide can really give you how Amway earning is distributed, but it is really complicated. That's why everyone in Amway keep talking about you having six platinums and your up line having you as a platinum which never happens. "Do not decide anything based on what is written in blogs and internet - they are Amway Quitters, do you know what quitters do not win!" I think you must have heard these things before :)

    1. That's right. The guy who busts his ass moving 100 PV gets 3% and the rest of the bonus gets taken by someone upline, possibly someone who doesn't even know the IBO who moved the volume. Thanks for confirming that for me.

  4. I read IBOFB's article. He makes some errors (or perhaps is purposely dishonest) such as assuming that most IBOs actually sell products and he disregards that system dedicated IBOs who purchase tools normally end up losing money.

      I do not edit or censor IBOFB's comments. I simply copy and paste the comments but remove his link to his website. He absolutely lied about me editing his comments. Unlike some in the pro MLM camp (ie Bridgett Baron), I allow comments, even if they are critical of me.

  9. I think it is right to say that tools impose too much costs and as most people drop out they will do so after incurring losses. The way it should be is you show the plan and sell products. Then you should have some revenue and limited expenses. Showing the plan often enough should build your organisation and possibly find you a few leaders capable to run with it. Then you could make a bit of money. Thats the way it was when i was in 25 years ago. All this tools stuff did not exist and worst case was people quit when they realised it was not for them but at least they had not lost money
