Making Progress In Amway?

I send this message to inform IBOs tha they should be aware of their circumstances in this business. What I mean is when you are a new IBO, it is common for you to buy/sell your 100 PV, and perhaps listen to some cds. If you basically did what your sponsor or upline advised, you made your 100 PV bonus level and you will receive a bonus from Amway for about $10. If you did as advised by your upline/sponsor, then you likely made a namelist and started contacting some potential business partners aka prospects. You're probably a bit excited because things are going as you expected. You did your part and a bonus is on it's way to your doorstep. Heck, you may have even sponsored a friend or relative because of your newly found excitement and enthusiasm.

But what happens after a few months? If you are still doing 100 PV and have no downline, then what are the chances that you will ever achieve anything? Your excitement is wearing off and now the Amway opportunity is becoming "work". You are also starting to notice that it is starting to get expensive to continue to purchase products, many of which you never purchased before. For example, were you buying cases of energy drinks and "high end" vitamins before Amway? Did you buy $50 cases of bottled water before Amway? Supposedly their laundry soap and other cleaners are highly concentrated, therefore your consumables are the nutrition/vitamin products.

Even if you managed to find some downline, are they duplicating what you do? Are they also moving volume and sponsoring downline? If not, what are your chances of fulfilling the 6-4-2 plan or some similar version of it. When I saw the plan, I thought it was reasonable and I was on my way to platinum. What I discovered though, is that as you progress, upline has greater expectations of you and that includes more tool purchases. (I was in WWDB). In the end, my recommended tool purchases ate up any profits I had and at the 4000 level, I was just about breaking even, which means I was at a loss when factoring in my time spent and other miscellaneous expenses such as gas money.

Where are you at? If you're been in for more than a year, are you on schedule to become platinum or are you at 200 PV with one downline? Maybe you have a small group with 600 PV? You still aren't close to a net profit. For the vast majority of people, success is not right around the corner. What's around the corner for most is more time lost, more money expended, and no progress. If your group is not growing each and every month, you are sliding backwards. If you don't constantly have new IBOs coming into the group, you are probably stagnant. With about half of IBOs dropping out each year, keeping a group together is a tremendous task.

IBOs, where are you at after a few months? Where are you at after a year? If you haven't gone platinum, it is nearly a certainty that it will never happen, despite what your upline might say. The facts are there, it's a matter of whether you want to believe it or not.

  1. I agree with your comment about platinum the first year. My upline edc said to the people who stick with this 10+ years or more. Showing the plan so many times plus being core. His stats is 90% earn min 300k a year or more. At that time I thought the only reason anyone. Would stay over ten years is if they make six figures. Can't imagine losing the majority of those years and continuing.

    1. My former sponsor has been in Amway 21 years now. He went platinum after about a year and then he started backsliding and he's at 2500 last I heard. I'm pretty sure he was losing money or break even at platinum because of the tools and functions. I bet he's losing even more now that he's not at platinum.

  2. You're right making and being in a MLM business is super hard, thats is probably why you have to "hire" smart people, people who actually believes sticking together makes a difference. In a business, there will always be "UPs" and "Downs" and having to waste money on functions is ridiculous...

Having to go MLM marketing around this time is not recommended unless you go internet marketing which doesnt sound bad but you have to know your stuff:

    1. Because MLM achievers need "downline" to make money, you are basically exploiting these downline. That's why the emphasis is always on recruiting because you need "slaves" to build your pyramid.

  4. When I saw this business in 1979 , if they had a gun they wouldnt have gotten 50 bucks out me. It was the best 50 bucks I'd ever spent. It is not about products it is the people and the plan . I got so much from the association, the encouragement. Quite honestly, the people that I am (still today) associated with have done way more than either of my parents had ever done for me. No wonder I gravitated towards this company. I still love Amway for the memories . My grown children have said they remember the times we went on Amway week ends as the best times of their lives. I know there are people who paid the moeny to make a quick buck and got out and talk negative, but I believe they never even knew what they were in.
The most honest, high integrity company I have ever known.

    1. That's nice that you had a good time and enjoyed your association in Amway/ That said, the Amway opportunity is a business and I noticed that you didn't claim to have made a cent in Amway.

    2. Is Amway a 2-5 business opportunity that will lead to lifetime of residual income or a group of people getting together to have fun? Hell, pay me $50/month and I will give you all the positive encouragement you want.

    3. That's right. Is Amway a business or not? Heck, I can go the movies or out to dinner and socialize with friends and get the association and positive feelings.

    4. I guess back in 1979 50.00 a month is quite a bit of $. My parents weren't in Amway and we went to movies & picnics every weekend. I can't imagine his children are being honest with him. They probably tell their friends dads a idiot for making us go to these silly functions. Or they are to young to know better. Your kids probably just don't want to hurt your feelings

    5. The upline teach that sort of thing. That Amway is not only about money. That it's about friendships, etc. But the bottom line is that a business exists to make a profit and if that isn't why you joined, then you can get the same results simply by going to church or joining social clubs.

    7. Steven, the Amway leaders use copy and paste opinions too. And they even get paid to give those opinions. I don't get paid to blog. Amway leaders get paid to speak. I have nothing to gain.
