I'm still in recovery from my recent experience with Amway! Do you know how long did it take me to feel this way? One day! I recently met a couple with a kid in the park, while I was with my 7 years old daughter. They appeared to be very happy, positive and really liked me. Well, we exchanged the numbers and here we are, we are friends! One day they called me and said that they wanted to discuss a business opportunity. I met up with them and they went over it very briefly and when I asked if it was Amway, they didn't answer....
They convinced me to go with them to the centre and stupid me, I went. When we arrived, I saw Amway name on the building, I thought or NO! They practically opened my bag to join this cult! They made sure, that I came with them in their car and let me tell you, I felt trapped!
Amway is a scam, not to mention it's a cult, some sort of scary religion. People are so brainwashed and totally possessed.
Historical facts about Amway:
China banned Amway as a multi level plan, allowing them to operate only as a retail shops, as they are treating the concept as FRAUD!!!
People lost money, friends and family.
99% of all Amway sales people never earn even one penny of profit! These are the facts, not a theory, or an opinion!
THE GREATEST FACTOR SUSTAINING AMWAY IS NOT SALES, SINCE IT HAS NO CUSTOMERS, ONLY A REVOLVING GROUP OF FAILED SALES PEOPLE!!! Lastly, products are average and extremely expensive! Someone earlier posted a brilliant comment: Your garage will be filled with detergent and you will have no friends, or a family!
It happened to me two days ago and I'm still boiling! These people, didn't just robed me of my sunday, they also violated me!!! Who ever thinks this is the way to make a fortune are sadly mistaking.....I do hope someone who is thinking to join, read some stories, as I would hate to see people investing time, money, heart, saul and health into this!
I think you should add another reason people must quit Amway and that is their shipping. I am an ibo who recently quit. If you buy for more than $300 and want express shipping, it costs $52!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteBut shipping will be compared to Amazon / ebay saying that everybody pays as much. Not really because there they give you free shipping for orders worth $75 or more.
Junk! If you make $100 bonus, you spend $50 in shipping and $50 for meetings and $50 for Standing order? Are you being profitable? My size 13 foot!!
What a silly comment based on someone who is really annoyed about something and who cannot use spell check.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't take historical facts from what China do and do not allow. They also limit the amount of children people can have my friend.
I am currently looking into the IBO and Amway thing and I hope that no one bases their opinion on such a badly written comment.
:-)
too late--the proof is in the pudding, and trust me, it ain't just a "badly written comment", as you so eloquently put it. wake up!
DeleteTravis, you're in for a rude awakening. I'm a registered Financial Advisor and of one my main roles is to analyze company business models to realize profitability. When researching WWG and Amway, I became curious on their internal MLM practices. What I found was deeply disturbing.
DeleteAmway is not a scam, it's a successful MLM direct sales company. But not for the reasons you would assume.
Amway is very successfl, but Amway IBOs are not.
DeleteMy Bro just joined Amway. He presented the plan to my husband and I. We had become part of Quixstar several years ago and since have quit, so I had an idea of what to expect. My bro joined WWDB. I am not going to discourage him. Every opportunity is what you make of it. People have to make decisions based on life experience. If life is leading someone in a direction they have to experince it in order to learn from it whether good or bad.
ReplyDeletehe'll learn. :)

DeleteTrue, but joining with WWDB nearly assures that he will lose money. Hopefully he snaps out of it quickly.
DeleteI was also tricked by amway. As I was working away at Target a guy comes up to me saying he is hiring for a job sales/computer based business and while he wasnt sure if I could get a job doing it he would be happy to recommend me to his higher ups. Later he contacted me and told me to come in for an interview (the meeting).
ReplyDeleteRight away he lied. 1. hes not hiring people and 2 its not an interview or a real job.
I wasted precious money on a suit thinking it was a real job interview and was quite dissapointed to find out it was amway and neither was this a job or an interview.
smh
DeleteOpinions are like arm pits everybody has 2 of them and they both stink. Facts. Amway is in100 countries including China. 11 billion in sales last year. Has paid out 400 billion to its reps in 60 years it's been in business. Networked with 600 plus other companies . Requires members to have clients to get paid. Lots more. Do research please.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your input. I enjoyed an amway business 30 years ago. there were a lot of peoples who took advantage of others ( as in any business) I am joining again because I see the need. I met someone at a local farmers market who set up am Amway table, and people was flocking to it all evening with good things to say and order products.
DeleteDave.
Have you people done the math. In order to break even as a distributor your sales have to be massive alone. Not to mention the owners of amway worth 5 bill. Each across the board are part of those calculations.
Delete100 countries, 400 billion paid member, 600 other affiliate businesses, 11billion in sales, customer requirements for IBO. What else do you need as facts. Opinions and feelings are like armpits we all have 2 and they tend to stink.
ReplyDeleteI recently broke up with a lovely guy who was so possessed by Amway, that he totally forgot I existed. And I am gorgeous catch to boot too! His loss, but it makes me sad that such a lovely person has been sucked in by such a scam, and now I think he musn't have much between the ears to have wasted nearly 2 years.. Go Diamond!!! What a load of crap. He works long hours in his normal job to cover the costs of Amway and all the meetings and promotional material, neglects his young boys with the promise that they will be financially free - yet quoted that he will only have to work weekends when that happens. Hello??? Everyone wants weekends off and that is when your children are home to. Broke my heart, but I am slowly moving on. Do not get involved with anyone involved in Amway.
ReplyDeleteHi,
DeleteCan I have his name and number please?
Non quittor!!
"quittor"? lol wow you're quite the joke!
DeleteAmway is not a pyramid, an FTC judge ruled in 1979. But some of it's independent distributors apparently have turned their groups into pyramidlike operations. Known as "black hats," these middlemen push their recruits to consume Amway goods, skip the retailing and buy large amounts of non-Amway peripherals (tapes, books, suits, jewels and even tickets to motivational rallies.
ReplyDeleteExactly. Everyone here who is pro-Amway are most likely desperate IBOs who are probably in debt up to their eyeballs and will therefore act upon ANYTHING that shows a ray of hope. Amway isn't about hope - it's about money, lies and deceit. They'll learn sooner or later. We all were GUNG HO when we got in. I quit the business so I wasn't buried with it. I lost $4,700 in two years all because of backloading and the so-calls "business tools." Fuck Amway.
DeleteSo true. Thanks for your comments!
DeletePeople do some weird things to make a quick buck. Amway taken seriously and treated like a business can be worth while. My wife several years ago was making $3k monthly through Mary Kay because she was treating as a business. So obviously there's nothing wrong with direct sale or MLM's. It's when people treated it like some gimic or get rich is what give the face of amway a bad image. Even if you can recruit a bunch of people, it means nothing if no volume is produced. So why waste all that time doing sketchy recruiting tactics when they can be honest with people and save both themselves and their prospects time. If you would like to get information about Amway, I'll be glad to help. Just email me @ escobar652@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteNat, I need your help. I have a son who has been brainwashed by this group. He only sees $$ signs. Ignores his family, friends and studies. Anybody that tries to speak to him is "negative".
ReplyDeleteDo you have any suggestions how he can "see the real light"
Sadly, your son will probably need to see things on his own. Telling him he's wrong or that he's being mislead will likely make him dig in and see you as "negative". Try ro be supportive but at the same time. get him to see his bottom line if you can.
DeleteI don't understand where you got your "facts" from. I've been an Amway distributor since 98 and I was able to retire from my full time accounting job at 36 as well as my wife's full time income. My wife and I are now financially independent and enjoy life without having to do the whole job scene. We wake up when we want to, travel when we want to, and help others gain financial ground by changing their buying habits. A cult? Well, the definition of the word, "cult" is a group of people having religious beliefs or practices regarded by others as strange. What's strange about people wanting to own their own business or vehicle for extra money? I think being trapped in a job for 40 years and then retiring with half pay is strange. I believe people who subscribe to THAT lifestyle is in a cult. Very strange. Oh well. I guess there will always be ignorant people out there. Bye!
ReplyDeleteI find it interesting that you would make such a bold BS claim that you and your wife are retired so young because of Amway and live some dream lifestyle. I especially do not buy your claim of gaining financial ground by changing buying habits. That's a canned tape/cd response. you don't get rich by "buying stuff".. It's pretty clear you won't make a lot of money unless you are also selling your downline cds and function tickets. I bet you are a new IBO making up stuff and you won't be back to respond to my comment.
DeleteI'm 100% sure you won't reply but... How many people in your downline are as successful as you? How many succeed? How much monthly sales are required to cover shipping expenses alone? I did the math your the one in 100 that makes all cash off the failures below you because there "unmotivated". Enjoy doing nothing while your downline suffers you ahole
DeleteI'll second that motion
DeleteJoe cool is a douche
ReplyDeleteAnd Anonymous is a cowardly loser.
DeleteWell guys only people with balls of steel and big dreams can work on this business. They can't do any work or business if not Amway.it's proved by being a 70000cr turnover world wide. Stay away if u want but do not steel dreams of others.
ReplyDeletesteel the dreams...lol ok then sporty!
DeleteThe subliminal fact is that they make envy look like ambition. They motivate people by bragging about the lives they have. They make you think that your Phd is just a thing of traditional business for losers. They say that every human being needs THIS type of business, but they ignore it. Watch out!!
ReplyDeleteHello All, here are my 2 cents. My neighbor is so brainwashed by Amway. She has tried to get me in and to buy the expensive Amway products. First off, these products I've never heard of and they are super expensive! I can understand if you have a day job and do Amway on the side. But she is only working with Amway with the hopes she will be RICH. This makes me very upset, on the weekends when she could be spending time with her 7-year-old daughter, she is going off to these "seminars" and she ends up leaving her daughter with me. Sometimes she just comes knocking unannounced that I will be available to take care of her child, (that's a whole other topic). I've reasoned with her to analyze what is more important, your kids don't stay kids forever. Also, I don't like Amways business model, I don't think it's for everyone; especially for my neighbor. The only people getting rich are the actual business owners, CEO..... she's been working with Amway for some months now and I don't see the results of it? I'm encouraging her to find some other type of work. Be careful, Amway is not the only way to make money. I get the impression that they really play on your emotions and financial needs. You have many talents you can make better use of than wasting your time, money and energy on Amway.
ReplyDeleteThe Amway owners and diamonds get rich because they have people paying them to work for them. Your neighbor is a good example. Maybe you should not answer your door if she comes knocking. Amway is a tough sell because you have generic quality products being sold for premium prices.
ReplyDeleteHi Anonymous,
ReplyDeleteTo add onto what Joecool said, I have written about operant conditioning with respect to MLM and I highly encourage you to read it (It is on the right hand side of Joecool's main page). When you answer your door and take the neighbor's child in, you are conditioning her to believe this is acceptable behavior. It doesn't matter what words you use to explain the situation, because she will still keep taking advantage if your actions allow her to.
You said, "I get the impression that they really play on your emotions and financial needs."
This is absolutely correct, because it is very difficult to get people to spend money frivolously without some type of conditioning. In fact, most people look for every possible way to save money, and that is why Amway has to use your emotions and vulnerability to their advantage.
My mom and brother both lost a considerable amount of time and money selling ScamWay. Same spiel all the time..."come for an informational meeting that will make you financially independent". When I would ask "is it Amway" they wouldn't reply. Now each of them regret it. So much for "the business"
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear it. Hopefully more people will do their due diligence instead of blindly believing these scammers.
