What Is Core?

Breakdown of CORE and why it doesn’t work. Here are the CORE steps. Some groups may have variations of CORE, but this is generally what many groups use:

1 - Show the Plan (10-15 per month)
2 - Retail the Products (10 customers @10 PV each)
3 – Tapes/cds
4 - Books
5- Functions (attend all)
6 - Accountability
7 - Counsel with Upline (Be teachable!)
8 - Buy 100% of your own products
9 – Communikate

Many upline will tell you that your success is nearly 100% guaranteed if you follow these steps for 2-5 years. Some Amway enthusiasts will tell you that 6 months of this activity will nearly assure you of a platinum level business. Certain steps are within the IBO’s control, such as reading every day and listening to cds, and attending functions. It is also easy enough to be accountable, counsel with upline, buy your own products, and use KATE (voicemail).

Here’s where an IBO’s efforts will break down. Showing the plan and retailing products. And remember, if you cannot do these steps then you are not considered “CORE” and your upline will likely tell you that it is your own fault and that you simply haven’t been CORE, therefore you did not achieve success. There is some truth in this but let me expose the system in a different angle.

Amway has a spotty reputation in the US. I don’t think anyone can dispute this fact. Therefore, for the vast majority of people, being able to show the plan 10-15 times per month is a nearly impossible task. If you are able to do this, you are a really good salesman or a good liar. In this scenario, the IBO is already successful, but not because of CORE, but simply because the IBO has the gift of being able to convince people into seeing the plan. But for many IBOs, they may contact hundreds of people and not be able to get anyone to see the plan. Even IBOs who follow upline advice on how to contact will probably not be able to show 10-15 plans per month. Thus this IBO, who is doing the work, will not be able to succeed. The system will blame the IBO, but the reality is that the IBO has too big of a disadvantage to overcome.

Secondly, with high prices (on average) and with a spotty reputation, most IBOs are unable to retail products. Amway itself has admitted that less than 4% of Amway products are sold to customers (non IBOs). Thus most IBOs are unable to sell products, therefore they are not CORE, therefore upline will blame the IBO for failure..

What if an IBO contacts 1000 people and cannot get 10 people to see the plan? Upline will claim that IBO is not CORE and therefore it is personal failure of the IBO. IMO, the only reason why upline can claim that CORE works is because in order to do the CORE steps consistently, you have to already be at a certain level of success. The vast majority of IBOs cannot and will never be able to reach that level.

That is the myth and the deception that many uplines will use to attract recruits. That each IBO can do the CORE steps. When only a fraction of 1% ever reach the level of platinum or higher, the numbers strongly support what is written here. Apologists are welcome to try and prove me wrong, but they can't.

  1. In any MLM the first thing they tell you to do is to call up all your friends and family and try to recruit them. Once you've gone through that list, that's it. Hopefully you don't lose too many friends by trying to sell them the MLM scam. But after that all that's left is trying to cold sell strangers. And that's a miserable life, going around approaching others and insincerely feigning interest in them, all for the sole purpose of turning the conversation around to this "thing" that you do to make money, knowing that you are actually not making money but are desperately hoping that somehow some day you eventually will. Put on your only suit, park your junk car around the corner and try to sell a money losing business with a reputation so bad that even the business itself tells you not to say their name. Does it get any worse than that?

    1. Thsnkfully I never reached that point. I had been able to sponsor a dozen people but you're right. You end up playing "amway" if you stay in long enough.

    2. Sorry for you. Whoever tell you to start with friends or families are terribly trained. First step I was trained was not to do so. Really sorry for you.

    3. Sorry but that happens all too often. How would a newbie know if they have a bad upline or not?

    4. How? Study before you sign up . Compare , watch, attend netting and get to know their team. I turned down two people and pick my own upline.
It is like starting any business, do your homework first.
Also, for the amway business right now, you can quite and get full refund in first 90 days as a new IBO . Although I have no chance to verify, the refund should also including tools(meeting fee and functions fees as well) sold by authorized training companies , such as WWDB. It is stated on amway website .
I mean , I studied two months before I join. I turn down two IBOs who try to recruit me because I have to see the real leader in the team first. I Do you research , not blame others, it is your business .

    5. Your statement is not true. If I attend meetings or functions, can I get a refund in the first 90 days? I don't think so.

And what source of information did you use for your research? I'm truly curious.

    6. Well, look at amway website , see reviews around , most important , attend open meeting and see how you upline doing .

I believe function is refundable , at least that's how I understand.

    7. Amway's refund policy does not apply to functions and products that are sold by the LOS. The LOS is a third party company.

  2. I can't agree the core you listed but I understand if same one follow this core their will be hard to success. Here is the core step we usually to follow:

    1. DO NOT show any plan by yourself in first few months. Only mention the business to people and bring them to classroom or workshop and let the upline to explain.
    2. Replace or use some product so get to know about the product, do it as you can afford.
3.Come to ever class of possible .
    4. Choose one a category that you want to focus on and learn it.
    5. Be a teammate , help others.
    6. Ask for help if you need, don't meet customer alone.

In short , learn to be a leader/salesperson first. Speaking of number, there is one new diamond told u.s. "One new IBOs and two customer each month" .

You don't show the plan to people, you show your team to them first. Let them understand if they join they will be working with a group well being people.

I got a nice sample of one team in our system. 10 core people, one Q12 platinum as leader. Then one is CPA hold a master degree, three are successful small business owners. Two are great sells personal working at high end brand. I am , why so many successful people chose the business if it is not a great one?

So don't show your plan, show your team, if you don't have one , find a good one. A good team is the key to success , and might be the only chance if you are not a leader and salesman in born.

    1. Your comment doesn't make sense. This is BWW and WWDB teaching.

  3. I don't know BBW or WWDB , I don't learn from them. All it know I am learning from No.1 worldwide and new diamond I can work with.
I mean, if BBW or wwdb works for you, learn it. if not , try something else.

    1. You can't just try something else. There are strict rules about transferring LOS and sponsors.

    2. Not really. You can quite the system , not pay for tools at any giving time. if you want to change upline, only need 6 months inactive.

    3. 6 months is a long time to sit out.

  4. Mr. Tang, everything you say is EXACTLY what Worldwide Dream Builders and Britt Worldwide teaches/taught. Exactly. Protesting that your upline has no truck with WWDB or BWW cuts no ice. Yet you claim to have done extensive "research" prior to becoming an IBO. Admit it: You've been had, big time. Again I say, don't give another dime or another moment of your time to this ungodly deception called Amway, a.k.a. whatever the name of your upline "organization" is.
