Amway - CORE Doesn't Work - Here's Why

Breakdown of CORE and why it doesn’t work. Here are the CORE steps. Some groups may have variations of CORE, but this is generally what many groups use:

1 - Show the Plan (10-15 per month)
2 - Retail the Products (10 customers @10 PV each)
3 – Tapes/cds
4 - Books
5- Functions (attend all)
6 - Accountability
7 - Counsel with Upline (Be teachable!)
8 - Buy 100% of your own products
9 – Communikate

Many upline will tell you that your success is nearly 100% guaranteed if you follow these steps for 2-5 years. Some Amway enthusiasts will tell you that 6 months of this activity will nearly assure you of a platinum level business. Certain steps are within the IBO’s control, such as reading every day and listening to cds, and attending functions. It is also easy enough to be accountable, counsel with upline, buy your own products, and use KATE (voicemail).

Here’s where an IBO’s efforts will break down. Showing the plan and retailing products. And remember, if you cannot do these steps then you are not considered “CORE” and your upline will likely tell you that it is your own fault and that you simply haven’t been CORE, therefore you did not achieve success. There is some truth in this but let me expose the system in a different angle.

Amway has a spotty reputation in the US. I don’t think anyone can dispute this fact. Therefore, for the vast majority of people, being able to show the plan 10-15 times per month is a nearly impossible task. If you are able to do this, you are a really good salesman or a good liar. In this scenario, the IBO is already successful, but not because of CORE, but simply because the IBO has the gift of being able to convince people into seeing the plan. But for many IBOs, they may contact hundreds of people and not be able to get anyone to see the plan. Even IBOs who follow upline advice on how to contact will probably not be able to show 10-15 plans per month. Thus this IBO, who is doing the work, will not be able to succeed. The system will blame the IBO, but the reality is that the IBO has too big of a disadvantage to overcome.

Secondly, with high prices (on average) and with a spotty reputation, most IBOs are unable to retail products. Amway itself has admitted that less than 4% of Amway products are sold to customers (non IBOs). Thus most IBOs are unable to sell products, therefore they are not CORE, therefore upline will blame the IBO for failure..

What if an IBO contacts 1000 people and cannot get 10 people to see the plan? Upline will claim that IBO is not CORE and therefore it is personal failure of the IBO. IMO, the only reason why upline can claim that CORE works is because in order to do the CORE steps consistently, you have to already be at a certain level of success. The vast majority of IBOs cannot and will never be able to reach that level.

That is the myth and the deception that many uplines will use to attract recruits. That each IBO can do the CORE steps. When only a fraction of 1% ever reach the level of platinum or higher, the numbers strongly support what is written here. Apologists are welcome to try and prove me wrong, but they can't. :D

Don't have to prove you wrong, you won't get it in the end. I'll refrain from continuing talking to you.

"Show 10 or sponsor 2" that is biggest crap all WWDB dinosaur diamonds teach. You have to takae a look at this link where a BWW IBO has written a post about Showing the plan http://www.953bib.biz/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=162 LOL...especially the part about the wife having to nod at all major points, never interrupting. Seriously after doing all this guy talks about how to show the plan, u still wont get results, ur upline will ask to read some more books and buy some old tapes..where the leaders tell it as it is and dont sugar coat and will tell u to keep showing the plan

Now THAT is some scary stuff!

Man this stuff on 953biz.com is freaking me out...This is just total brainwashin..."Whilegoing for STP, feel strongly that you are doing God's job to uplift someone's life and passing on the torch of happiness and freedom for your prospect." ...Amway is not a cult:-)

This is what "953BIB" means (according to the blogger):

953BIB.Biz
9 Core Steps, 5 Nights a Week, 3 Powers and Board in Bedroom

The website also has these instructions for women:

For Wife : What to say ?
~ How good she feels after starting this business.
~ Nod your head in affirmation at all major points.
~ Smile all the time.
~ Please do not interrupt.
~ Good Friends, Helping community, better relationship with husband and children

Does anyone know what "Board in Bedroom" means? (Is it supposed to read "Bored" in Bedroom?)

Anonymous said...

953BIB is like a mantra for BWW.

953BIB means- 9 core steps, 5 nights a week of showing the plan, 3 Powers (Power of spoken word, Power of submission and Power of Unity)

BIB means- Board in the bedroom- You are supoosed to have a board in your bedroom with ur group(?) drawn out and discuss about it every night. Suppossedly the board in your bedroom will talk to u and will tell you in which leg you should work on

irregardless of any of our opinions on Amway, they're doing 9 billion a year in sales for a reason - and the reason is that the field leadership knows how to build an orgnaization that lasts and grows over time.

no, I'm not in Amway - but for heaven's sake, look at what they've done - it's impressive

Joecool said...

Amway has never done 9 billion in sales.

Anonymous said...

Joecool, Is forbes.com wrong in putting the figures ?

LOL.... all the people that bash anything from Amway to their own personal jobs make me laugh. If you people spent as much time working hard at your job or on your business (if you're an IBO) you'd be extremely successful, but instead you feel it is much easier to wine and complain and blame everyone else around you for your failures in life instead of accepting responsibility.

Although I despise people like that, I am grateful you exist, because you make the rest of us better people.

what you just said makes NO sense and adds nothing to the discussion.

Anyone is entitled to their opinion. If you believe it works, it will work. just because it didn't work in 2-5 years doesn't mean it won't work in 5-10 years. or even 10 - 20 years. You get out what you put in, right? The point is, it works, and there's obvious proof. It's okay that some people hate Amway, we only need a handful of people who want to make something work for them. Just like my friend told me, "Some people are really just meant to work for other people." And that's a true statement! I'll tell you, if everyone joined Amway, this thing wouldn't work. But that case is impossible. Any case involving the word "everyone" is impossible because "everyone" won't ever do the same thing and that's a fact

Anonymous said...

"everyone" won't ever be a nimrod like you, and THAT'S a fact! =)

Anonymous said...

I'm not in Amway but if Amway was a scam, then it seems to me that mainstream companies like Bass Pro Shop, Office Depot, and Choice Hotels would not partner with them. Wouldn't those companies attorneys have advised them to stay away from Amway? Moreover, Amway sponsors the Detroit Red Wings (NHL), Miss America Pageant, and the Orlando Magic (NBA) as well as having had numerous business leaders endorse their activities. Definiteley not a scam.

Amway has been vetted by the Federal Trade Commission(FTC) where they specifically state that "the company's sales plan was not an illegal pyramid scheme." Anyone can read the FTC's ruling on Amway. (FTC.gov). Do your independent research on a company, no matter what the company, and base your position on facts, not heresay and conjecture.

Joecool said...

Anonymous, why did Amway partner with Worldcom and Enron?

Anonymous said...

First off, not everything in our lovely world is a "conspiracy theory". I will say that when those two companies chose to partner with Amway, Amway along with Wall Street, US government, and other municipalities, etc were led to believe that the health and vitality of WorldCom and Enron were sound. Obviously, those two companies lied to everyone. They even lied to their internal workforce and soon fell off the face of the map. Just how the free market works and should work. In addition, people went to jail and the world is a better place with out them. I do not see the connection to Amway. Amway is a major fortune 500 company who is moving forward not a babysitter for Wall Street. Amway is privately held, not on Wall St and is debt free.

Anonymous said...

Joe Cool, by the way you never answered my original post which was- if Amway was so evil, wouldn't those other partner companies' attorneys advise their clients not to consort with Amway??

Joecool said...

Amway isn't illegal and it's probably a good deal for partner companies to have brainwashed product loyal IBOs buying their stuff. However, it has no relationship with Amway being a profitable business opportunity for IBOs.

Joecool said...

The problem is that only a fraction of 1% of IBOs ever make any money. A poor business opportunity at best.

Anonymous said...

That is your opinion. That is not a stated fact. I am an economics major and I have seen the Amway business plan. I even broke down the numbers to see if they made any kind of sense. They did. My opinion is that a person can be very successful in Amway through the process of duplication. The business plan breaks it down in very very simplistic form so anyone can understand what is going on with Amway. It's not rocket science. Look, the fact is , with anything, that if a person sits on their butt and does not work they do not make any gain. I don't care what your business is. All I know is that most small businesses have sizable overhead. Amway does have little overhead which in my opinion is a plus in terms of dollars and sense.

Anonymous said...

Actually Joe Cool you are correct. They infact exceeded that mark. If you would have kept up with your reading you would have realized that as of the year ended 2011 Amway did 10.9 Billion in sales. Keep up the Good Fight.lol

Joecool said...

The process of duplication? What are they duplicating?
By Amway's own numbers. only about 1 IBO out of 250 or so ever reach platinum. That is less than one half of one percent who reach that level. Most IBOs do little or nothing and quit. Even those who work hard rarely make any money. It's possible to make some money in Amway but making a significant amount is about as rare as hitting the lottery and relies on the misfortunes of others in order for you to succeed. Yo may have majored in economics but you are mistaken about the typical results of Amway IBOs.

Joecool said...

It's good for Amway but it doesn't mean anything for IBO profitability.

Anonymous said...

you hit the nail on the head and made my point. you just stated that "most IBO's do little or nothing and quit". what i just stated in the former. Thank you.
I will conced and say that its probably not easy to make money in Amway but it is possible with some hard work and dedication. You and I both see everyday on the news when people dont work and get money. thats called laziness and they want something for nothing. might as well be on welfare but i'm sorry, Life is Hard and not an easy task. People have to work and stake their claim in order to be successful.

Joecool said...

People doing nothing and quitting is a problem in itself.

Out of the remaining who do work hard and put out effort, only a tiny percentage of those folks make any money. The real money is made selling standing orders and seminars.

Life is hard. Making money in Amway is harder.

Anonymous said...

Actually you are wrong again. Amway has paid out 33 billion dollars in bonus money since 1959.

Joecool said...

And how many tens of millions of IBOs received that money? If 33 million IBOs were in existence (plausible), then they all made $1000 a year on average. Big whoopee.

Diamonds say that only 5% could make it in Amway. It is not for everyone. Those who whine against Amway are definitely not among the 5% and it is not for them. If I do not make it in Amway, I will not whine and gripe. It is not anybody's fault if I did not move my ass to build the business or I did not have the capability to build it. Those Diamonds made it because they are of the 5% and Amway had the mechanics that led them to become Diamonds. They were core and had the ability to be core. I have attended rallies, meetings, and conventions. I have seen new emeralds, silvers, sapphires, etc. People are making it. 95% don't. Some of those 95% whine and gripe. They must still be working and broke.

you're a liar. you know what the bible says about liars??? =)

The problem is you have no idea that your numerical proof is wrong....

so prove it, ya dipshit!

Can you show any field of life where more than 1% is successful?

Joecool said...

Small businesses have about a 50% success rate, according to the SBA. Colleges graduate more than 50%. Franchise businesses have a very high rate of success. Only in Amway and MLM are the failures rates at more than 99%.

Anonymous said...

People who cannot succeed in something should get out of the way of those who can.

Why waste energy hating on others? Amway is a $12 billion + recession proof private corporation that has offered countless opportunities, rewards to those who deserve it as well as contributed massively to the community and people.

It's not the corporation's fault that people who are looking for the ultimate rewards eventually give up and fail because they are not willing to pay the hard work.
