Some Amway Thoughts?

One thing that I was unaware of as an Amway IBO was that our uplines were profiting handsomely from our tools purchases. I was in WWDB at the time and I was told very clearly that nobody made any money from the tools, and in fact, I was also told that WWDB was a non profit organization. Both of these statements were bold lies told by WWDB leaders and they have never been held accountable. We were told that upline cared about us and our success, thus they spent their own money to fly to functions to teach us how to succeed. Looking back, the lies told by the WWDB leaders were shameless.

Eventually, the internet amd other media (i.e. The Dateline Expose' in 2004) made it impossible to cover up these lies and uplines finally admitted that they profited from tools. However, it looks like they downplayed the magnitude of the tools profits. I believe some upline may have made most of their income from tools, especially leaders who may have fallen out of qualification. Now the upline admits they make some profits from tools, but there is still a great deal of secrecy in the tools business. What makes the whole thing ironic is that the uplines allegeldy are not supposed to entice Amway prospects into joining by using the tools money as a draw, but at the same time, they are told that tools are vital to their success.

I wonder how many prospects or IBOs would be fired up about buying tools if they knew that their uplines might not currently be qualified at the level they claim to be, and knowing that the uplines will make a ton of money whether or not you make a cent as an IBO? Also, some uplines are shameless is pushing the tools on downline. Sure they might cut the newest guy a break and loan them some cds, but once that IBO decides to start building downline, they are likely to be told that a real business owner buys their own tools, or that a business owner needs to be a leader and purchase extra tools for their downline.

How would you feel if your upline is touting themselves as a financial genious but in the background, their homes are foreclosed or they have financial difficulties? What if your upline touts their morals and you find out they are divorced or getting a divorce? What if your upline said Amway saves marriages? Your upline certainly won't say they are perfect, but conversely, they should be held to the highest standards if they are using their status to be able to sell tools and make large profits.

Many Amway prospects and IBOs don't know this, but maybe they do now.

Seriously, you didn't know that money was made from sales? No wonder you failed!

Of course money is made from sales. Sales of cds, voicemail, books, functions.....

How perfectly vague. To whom are the sales being made? Is it an "end user" which can be used cleverly to describe both "distributors" and retail customers?

To John Doe --

Yes, you're right. Amway defenders try to weasel out of the truth with that stupid phrase "end user." The vacuous idea of "buying from your own store" is similarly employed.

The vast majority of Amway products are consumed by Amway IBOs. In actual competition with the real business world, Amway would be blown out of the water.

One can be in Amway without being in an LOA, such as WWDB, BWW, and others.

You can make money being the Amway member/user (IBO) and growing up your network of direct users of Amway products (excellent brands) without being in any other network which supports Amway business. You can also sell Amway products earning money through the provisions, because as a member, you buy their products for the better price, which is 25% to 30% chiper than your selling price.

The products are 25-30% cheaper than your selling price?

But even with your IBO discount, many Amway products are 100% (or more) expensive that similar products that you can get elsewhere.

May be people are making money but tools are very much required component if a person starting any business.... books and cds are learning and development In Amway... I doubt people can succeed without any inspiration or without learning from successful people.

Baloney. Many people can run successful businesses without the kind of tools used in Amway.

If those stupid Amway tools (cds, tapes, books, etc.) really worked, you would not need to keep on buying new ones every damned month!!!

A person can be trained to do any sort of business activity within a limited time. For some people it's just a few weeks, for others a few months.

Why should an essentially brainless business like Amway require that you buy an endless supply of tapes, books, and cds, year after year? Answer me that, Vivek Kumar Singh.

To Joecool...
It is not true that Amway products are more expensive then other similar products, because they are concentrated (Amway home brand for example), ecologicaly tested and we use them in less quantity and much longer then any other similar products, but with the same effect. So, they are unique and you can not get elswere such as good and equal products for everyday use as they are for the same price.

Of course it's true that Amway products are more expensive, even with concentration. Let me give you a simple explanation. Walmart buy from a manufacturer, adds their markup (15-20%) and sells to consumers. Try buying $300 worth of stuff at WalMart and then see how much you get from Amway.

Amway buys from or manufactures their products, adds their markup (30% or more) and then sells to their IBOs, who must also add their markup unless they sell at cost. The 30% (or more) mark up covers the cost of your PV bonuses, plus those diamond and other big bonuses that you see flashed around at functions.

Amway products are unique? It's true that I cannot get "Amway" products elsewhere, but I can surely get soap, laundry products, vitamins and other similar products elsewhere at a fraction of the cost of Amway stuff.
