Can An IBO "Choose" To Succeed?

Many IBOs seem to think that success in business or in other aspects of life is simply a choice. They mistakenly believe that you can actually choose to succeed or not. They apparently believe that persistence and choosing to win will eventually land them a premiere spot at diamond club. If that were truly the case, wouldn't we see hoards of new diamonds each and every year? Instead, we see one here and one there, and while there are a few new diamonds in the US every so often, we see others quitting, dropping out or leaving Amway for greener pastures. Make you wonder if the prize is worth pursuing in the first place.

But IBOs and information seekers should understand quite clearly. You cannot simply "choose" to win or succeed. In a football game, both sides can believe and choose to win, but still, only one can be the victor. In Amway, it is common for a platinum to have 100 to 200 downline. Thus to be a platinum, you need to be in the top one half of one percent of IBOs. To be a diamond, you will need to be in the top 600 to 1200 IBOs, not counting the masses of IBOs who register and do nothing or register and do a little and quit. Only one in about ten to twenty thousand will ever reach diamond in North America.

Sure, IBOs may cite some touching story like "Rudy". Basically a nobody who dreamed of playing for Notre Dame. He busted his butt and did whatever it took to make the team and the movie ends with him getting in a game, making a sack and being carried off the field by his teammates in a blaze of glory. A great and inspiring movie. But what you don't see is the possible tens of thousands of young men who had the same dream, may have worked every bit as hard but circumstances and situations prevented them from achieving the same limited success. Uplines want you to think these kinds of stories can happen to everyone, but the fact is that there is only a little room at the top. If stories like Rudy were common, then there would have been nothing special about it. An elite athlete like a Michael Jordan or a Tiger Woods only comes along once or twice in a lifetime. It is like achieving diamond. It happens but it is a rare occasion, especially in North America where Amway appears to be shrinking instead of growing.

In the Amway business, many prospects and IBOs are motivated and driven to succeed. Many of them are fine young men and women who want more in life. But the vast majority of those who try will not achieve their dreams via the Amway opportunity no matter how hard they work and no matter how badly they want it. The reason is because there are too many variables that are not in direct control of the IBO. The Amway reputation in North America is spotty at best so sponsoring downline is nearly impossible. And when you can sponsor, chances are your downline will do little or nothing. Many new IBOs will work hard, but quit because they are faced with the challenges I just mentioned. And even if you can overcome the overwhelming odds, you still need to keeping working hard constantly to maintain the business, all for an unstable average diamond income of $146,995, which doesn't consider taxes, medical insurance and other perks you may receive at a job. All told, I believe the diamond income is not all it's cracked up to be when you consider the charade you must play to display the diamond lifestyle. Do the math and you will be able to see for yourself.

In the end, it seems as though the prize isn't as great as it seems, and the trail to success is one that most cannot endure. And even if you achieve diamond, you can lose it quite easily as others have discovered. The bottom line is that you cannot simply choose to succeed in Amway or any other endeavor. Good luck if you decide to attempt it anyway.

O.K., if I 'choose' to be a coconut, will it happen? Well, why not? It's what I've chosen.

I'll include it in my Prayer of Jabez, right? Remember when that was the wwdb craze of the minute?

Let's review a few of their 'wonder' products, shall we?

magna-bloc - they sold it from stage like it was a cure for cancer (now they don't sell it, surprise!)

water treatment system - well, there's just not another one like it on the planet. Only a moron would buy a different brand than amway. How's that $400 -600 water thingy working out for you? Forclosures? Ha! I laugh in the face of forclosures cuz' I got my water treatment system! It's just me and my cardboard box and my water treatment system, you loser amway quitters.

air-purifiers - never sold a-one. People took a look at price and said, if I want fresh air, I'll just open the window and keep $800+ in my wallet, thank you very much. The stage kingpins wanted you to get several for your house. Even in a good economy, people wouldn't buy them. I did not know of one ambot who bought one in the 15 years I've been in amway and I ALWAYS ask.

the amway diet system - what do you get for $250+ dollars? overpriced supplements and Grape Nuts fiber nuggets. They pushed this shit from stage hard. I used to just laugh. I am a certfied workout instructor and I am in excellent shape. These guys were fat - Laurie Duncan, Glen and Joya Baker (they were huge), Brad Duncan, and many many other Diamonds. They didn't take their own medicine. I used to wonder how they could hawk the crap that even they refused to eat. At the major functions, I would take runs, run the stairs at the hotels, I did sit-up/push-ups, and all manner of floor work in my room. I carefully monitored everything I ate. Never touched their diet crap. Well, kiss my grits, I stay in shape. How is that possible w/o amway diet crap? BTW, they used to have only one kit. Now it's three???? Carb Reducer, Fat Trimmer, and Better Balance.. When they would yell at us for not buying this crap, I used to think, Hey, Fatso, I'll come up there on stage right now in my skirt and blouse and teach an aerobic class that will kick your ass. Is it any surprise there were no takers. Amway buys spokespeople all the time. Remeber the Sahq bar??? Yeah, I'll just bet old Shaq volunteered his services. And now, they's got the 10-Minute Total Body Breakthrough by Sean Foy. My guess is he'll be their poster boy until amway decides to stop paying him. Then he'll quietly ride off into the sunset.

artstry - extremely expensive. I used to do Artistry skin care classes. Couldn't give it away. $13 lipstick? I can get one for $6 at Wal-Greens. Price matters. yes, it does.

These are a few of the core amway products you were expected to buy - and happily!!! or else.

Anyone remember when the ama-catalog cover featured a 1969 Mustang for sale? Yeah, they were hawking a '69 car. Back then, the catalogs rivaled JC Penny's for size. Bet you had no idea, did you? You see, when we quit, we take our knowledge of amway with us. I bought all of our business clothes out of those catalogs whether they were decent or not. Can't get caught not being c.o.r.e., right? I never saw even one diamond or emerald wearing those clothes, ever!

One last laugh. Remember Mama Pat Zifferblatt? No? She was the spokeswoman for BLI meals. Some emerald dubbed it, 'Better Like It,' and, boy, that was the truth. She reminded me of my grade-school lunch cook.

Oh, I just can't leave out Nutripet!!! At $20/bag it was a steal. And I figured they way they described it as miraculous for your dog, if things got touch, hey, I'm not too proud, right?

aurora

by now, they've got to want so much to shut me up.

My wife and I are former Platinums in WWDB, downline from Terry and Linda Felber. Though we give thanks to WWDB for mentoring us and making us "better" in every aspect of our lives, we do whole heartily agree with the earlier posts. The products are okay but very costly in comparison to any other name brand products on the market.
Unfortunately we bought into the "hype" from stage and purchased many of the big ticket items mentioned above. Very little PV bang for the buck.
Of course we never wanted to pass any negative down line so we simply went with the flow, spending hard earned $$ on products we probably never would have otherwise purchased. Stupid we know.
It is quite interesting of course to attend Dream Nights, FED, Family Reunions and Leadership, see all the glitz and glamour from stage and assume that all the diamonds and above are living million dollar lifestyles when in reality few are.
In defense of Mama Pat Zifferblatt, my wife and I both agree that she was without question a tremendous asset and spokeswoman for the Better Life Institute.
So looking back on our 9 years in WWDB we can truthfully say that the years spent with thousands upon thousands of positive, uplifting people has had a profound impact on our lives moving forward and we cherish all of the many wonderful memories of those years. What we don't miss is the business side of the Amway business and all that comes with it.

I have been in Amway for 40 years. I have made money at it every month for 40 years. I worked the Rich DeVos method. I service customers and look for others who want to do the same. Following the big groups has never been part of my plan. I don't buy anyone's books or tapes. I use the Amway and Nutrilite made products. They have always been great for me. I have relatives who have started other "regular" businesses. They also work hard and have the same problems. Yes you always have to keep working. Welcome to the real world.

what's your point?

Its confirmed I just called Amway business support and rules and conduct. All platinums and above, get paid for books tapes board plans and major functions ( if they speak at them)

Example.
1.Family reunion cost about $400.00 for a 3 day weekend not counting travel cost or food or hotel.
Now if 20,000 people attend thats 8 million dollars in ticket sales generated for family reunion.
Lets say it cost 2 million for renting the auditorium and the clean up crew. That leaves 6 million dollars. From the ticket proceeds correct NOW PAY ATTENTION HERE.! Lets say there were 40 speakers for the 3 day event that 6 million gets divided between the 40 speakers thats $150,000 per speaking couple . They will walk away with speaking at a weekend event with a profit of $150,000 WOW! Now there are 3~4 major functions per year GET THE POINT!

2. If they FORCE you to be on a tape program or they won't help you build your business there is a reason for this. NOW PAY ATTENTION HERE.! They buy the tapes or CD'S ect.
FOR EXAMPLE for $1.50 each they resell them to you for $8.00 each now imagine if you sell 500 audio material units through your business each month.
your cost is $750.00 your profit is $3,250.00.

3. Books and tools same rules applies as rule 2.

4. Now when you attend a board plan at an auditorium or a rented hall, it cost about $7.00-$10.00
to get into the board plan. So lets say 1000 people attend this board plan. Lets say its $1,500.00 to rent this hall for 2.5 hours. Lets say the average cost to enter is $8.50 thats $8,500.00 in ticket sales for that board plan. That leaves $7,000.00 left over that money is straight profit for the person who did the board plan.

5. So yes you can make money in Amway
BUT NOT FROM SELLING PRODUCTS TO YOUR DOWNLINE!

6. As a matter of fact all you need to do is spend about $350.00 a month to be core! This amount being spent will make sure you are entitled to your 3% bonus check MEANING 100PV & 300BV.

7. So you don't need to get rid of all your stuff in your house thats not from Amway. And if anyone tells you this RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN FROM THEM AND CHANGE YOUR LINE OF SPONSORSHIP!

8. I have been in many diamonds homes and I have seen all kinds of stuff in there house thats not from Amway BTW! And there diamonds some are even executive diamonds! LOL!!

9.So the goal is to get to platinum make your own tapes hold your own board plans and speak and major functions and sell a bunch of tools to your downline. THIS IS WARE YOU WILL MAKE THE BULK OF YOUR MONEY!
ALSO make sure you and everyone in your group does a minumum of $300.00 -$350.00 in the sales of products each month.

10. So that means sponsor about 100 people and work your butt off to help them understand that in-order to build a successful Amway business. They must spend at least $300.00 -$350.00 a month in products they need from Amway and duplicate it by also sponsoring 100 people them selves and working there butt off to help them do the same. NOW I SAY SPONSOR 100 BECAUSE SOME WILL QUIT AND SOME WONT SPEND $300.00-$350.00 PER MONTH. so as long as you have 25 who spend $300.00 to $350.00 per month who do consistenly then you will go platinum. As long as you hold your volume for 6 months from this point forward its a simple process of duplication to get to the diamond level. And beyond!

11. So once again this information was confirmed by Amway just 40 minutes ago on a phone call SO ITS 100% CORRECT!

So yes you can make money in Amway
BUT NOT FROM SELLING PRODUCTS TO YOUR DOWNLINE!

I wish up-lines would tell the truth as to how money is really made in this thing called Amway!!

Its all the lies that piss people off! Not how the money is made! We are made to believe that its all made from selling products and that is the farthest thing from the truth!!

I and my ex-husband were Direct sponsored by Terry and Linda Felber. I agree with above former Platinums. I learned a lot about business skills in working with people that I still use in my self- employed music studio. I am totally self- employed, and own my own home worth over $500,000. I am also still unmarried. I enjoyed Amway and all the people I met. We never went farther than Direct. When my then husband got very ill, I knew it was time to move on. I thank Terry and Linda for putting up with us. I learned a lot of positve things from them. I'm sorry that our relationship ended when we quit. But, that's one of the high prices you pay for doing Amway. If you quit, it's like you don't exist anymore. Then I think, we were only worth their time as long as we were doing the business. To me, that's not a sincere relationship. That aspect has turned me off to Amway. How many prices are people paying to be successful?!
