The CORE Steps Of Amway?

Here is a breakdodown of CORE and why it doesn’t work. Here are the CORE steps. Some groups may have variations of CORE, but this is generally what many groups use. CORE is allegedly the proven system of success. Apologists claim that people who are CORE for at least six months straight will succeed. I doubt it. There are many examples, including my former sponsor who can suggest it doesn't work. You can also note that nearly all of these steps do not produce any income for an Amway business and in fact, costs the IBO money.

1 - Show the Plan (10-15 per month)
2 - Retail the Products (10 customers @10 PV each)
3 – Tapes/cds
4 - Books
5 - Functions (attend all)
6 - Accountability
7 - Counsel with Upline (Be teachable!)
8 - Buy 100% of your own products
9 – Communikate

Many upline will tell you that your success is nearly 100% guaranteed if you follow these steps for 2-5 years. Some Amway enthusiasts will tell you that 6 months of this activity will nearly assure you of a platinum level business. Certain steps are within the IBO’s control, such as reading every day and listening to cds, and attending functions. It is also easy enough to be accountable, counsel with upline, buy your own products, and use KATE (voicemail).

Here’s where an IBO’s efforts will break down. Showing the plan and retailing products. And remember, if you cannot do these steps then you are not considered “CORE” and your upline will likely tell you that it is your own fault and that you simply haven’t been CORE, therefore you did not achieve success. There is some truth in this but let me expose the system in a different angle.

Amway has a spotty reputation in the US. I don’t think anyone can dispute this fact. Therefore, for the vast majority of people, being able to show the plan 10-15 times per month is a nearly impossible task. If you are able to do this, you are a really good salesman or a good liar. In this scenario, the IBO is already successful, but not because of CORE, but simply because the IBO has the gift of being able to convince people into seeing the plan. But for many IBOs, they may contact hundreds of people and not be able to get anyone to see the plan. Even IBOs who follow upline advice on how to contact will probably not be able to show 10-15 plans per month. Thus this IBO, who is doing the work, will not be able to succeed. The system will blame the IBO, but the reality is that the IBO has too big of a disadvantage to overcome.

Secondly, with high prices (on average) and with a spotty reputation, most IBOs are unable to retail products. Amway itself has admitted that less than 4% of Amway products are sold to customers (non IBOs). Thus most IBOs are unable to sell products, therefore they are not CORE, therefore upline will blame the IBO for failure..

What if an IBO contacts 1000 people and cannot get 10 people to see the plan? Upline will claim that IBO is not CORE and therefore it is personal failure of the IBO. IMO, the only reason why upline can claim that CORE works is because in order to do the CORE steps consistently, you have to already be at a certain level of success. The vast majority of IBOs cannot and will never be able to reach that level.

That is the myth and the deception that many uplines will use to attract recruits. That each IBO can do the CORE steps. When only a fraction of 1% ever reach the level of platinum or higher, the numbers strongly support what is written here. Apologists are welcome to try and prove me wrong, but they can't.

core = crap

Your missing some steps and some steps do not need to be there. We don't use this core method. Showing 10 15 plans is possible. You hace 30 days in a month and meet plently of meet in a month lol you just have to meet people who are interested in many extra income in the side. Simple as that.

I think, if you apply your energies in the right direction, anything can happen.
Create your own system, if you do not like all steps. But you will realize that these steps are easy and in a way well defined.
I am using these myself. Yes, initially I also felt the same way as you do. But over a period of time, I am realizing that these work.
All the best
Have a great life!

What I would like to observe here is that like all businesses, wither home-based or traditional, all business skills are learn-able. You need to learn the skills of prospecting and presenting, of doing business presentations, knowing how to sell your product or service. If you can use a computer, or work a smart phone, you can learn the necessary business skills to be successful. CORE is just a blueprint of the necessary skills that you need to master to become effective at creating and keeping both customers and other IBO's into your organization.

CORE is actually the blueprint for your upline to make money off you. Look at the steps. All are beneficial to your upline and your upline profits directly from a bunch of the CORE steps.

I would remind you that you do not have to use your uplines tools to learn the skills, there are many different training materials and courses that you can take. It is all in the attitude that you have towards learning. These really are very generic in a sense that it is a guide through a process. The first two steps in the process are generic business skills that you can learn from anyone reputable you don't have to use the Amway teaching material at all. Tony Robbins or Brian Tracy have fantastic home study programs that you can use to learn these skills. You are in a business, so treat like a business, and learn the skills. Go to training seminars that are outside of the networking marketing industry, take courses in effective communication. When I look at the CORE guidelines that is exactly what I see, no where does it say that I have to use my uplines system for educating myself or getting the necessary training to learn new skills for building my business. In the end, I am responsible for the success and profitability of my business. I respect the upline, but in the end, it is what I do, that will make all the difference.

Joecool said...

You can learn all the skills, but the structure of Amway leaves you at the mercy of your upline and/or Amway. Your upline diamond could easily de-edify you and steal your downlline. You as a rank and file IBO has no credibility against a diamond. Since your diamond makes money off the training, you bet you'll be in the dog house if you don't buy your upline's tools.

If Amway is a scam and someone warns you about it, why do they need to offer you a solution?

Joecool said...

Reat estate and cash. Do you actually know anyone from Amway who's transferred wealth to their grandchildren or are just repeating anecdotal stories?

I look at Am way as I do any business. If you want to be successful you have to put in the work. I have a Tax business and an Am way business and the same things I do for my Amway business I do for my Tax business ie go to seminars, training, use my own services. These are things traditional business owners do. Amway helps people who may not know how to start a business start one. If you keep the mindset that you have you will work for someone for the rest of your life. People who build business or step out their comfort zone are those who are successful. You can easily blame others for what you are not doing but it is harder to look at yourself and look at what you can change about yourself so that you can be a successful business owner.

Who would you need seminars to run an Amway business?

Ignorance of 21st century business models at its best. If one chooses to remain in the 20th century of a "job mentality" and have someone else determine your financial future for you as well as when to have lunch or even go to the bathroom, we wish you luck

Oh Anonymous don't kid yourself. MLM was developed in the mid 20th century and its creators were inspired by hucksters that originated from the 19th century.

There are many other ways to make income other than being an hourly wage employee or an MLMer. Why do you people keep making this sound like the alternative to MLM is slavery? If you are truly interested in being an entrepreneur, then come up with an awesome product, find a great way to manufacture it that is cost effective, find distribution, and make lots and lots of money.

Being in an MLM is not being your own boss, but rather being a terribly low commissioned sales person with a monthly quota of spending regardless of results. You are a glorified customer with the title "distributor" or "ambassador" or "consultant" or "coach" but it is all smoke and mirrors.

Save your sarcastic "we wish you luck" for people that care.

People who put down jobs usually have junk ones. That's why they don't like it, or they don't like the boss. If you could get a job that pays $100 an hour for something you enjoy, that would be okay for most people. Actually, even $50 an hour is about $100K per year full time.

But this looking down on jobs is just a way to justify Amway as a business opportunity. However, Amway's stats show that Amway is a lousy business opportunity. Source: Amway.com

To Anonymous at 5:41 AM --

Amway has nothing to do with the 21st century. It is nothing but a complex way to convince credulous and naive people to sell products that no one really wants. The founders of Amway started out with vitamin pills in the 1940s, and when they got into trouble with the FDA they switched to cheap cleansers in 1958-59. That's how "Amway" started.

The whole thing (along with copycat MLMs) is just a scam to recruit more members into one's down-line. The products? They're a joke, and are utterly uncompetitive with anything else on the market. The vast majority of Amway products are consumed by Amway IBOs.

You call that a 21st-century "business"? Dream on, buddy. I call that a joke.

Actually, Amway is not a scam. Amway actually teaches, that 98% of America are lazy and not ambitious at all, which we leave Amway in the 2% category, so if you look at their stats, 2% are highly successful in trying to pass on the knowledge to others. But It usually goes in 1 ear and out the other. Because they're in the 98% club. Kinda like the lazy people that are writing stuff on here. Negative about amway, nothing better to do when they could be out building their amway business. So they can retire early and be with their kids.

To the asshole who left the comment at 10:26 above -- No one at this website is lazy. Joe Cool has been operating it for many years, and scores of intelligent and articulate people have come here to tell the world about the bullshit and deception that is at the core of the Amway racket. We've all worked hard to make sure that the real truth about the Amway scam gets out to the world -- and we have had great success, cutting Amway's profits by several billion dollars. I guess you didn't know that.

So don't call us lazy, you fucking creep. We all have well-paying jobs and careers that give us substantial incomes, and we would no more dream of coming back to the Amway racket than we would jump into a tar pit.

As for 98% of Americans being "lazy" -- that's a stupid insult. You don't become one of the most powerful nations on earth with a 98% percent lazy population. That statement is probably some mindless bullshit you picked up at a function speech, or from your fat-assed Platinum.

re: Anonymous September 3, 2023 at 10:19 PM

Are 98% of the general population lazy, or 98% of those in Amway groups? He seems to mean both because he says "of Americans", but then repeats the same 98% when saying "according to their (Amway's) stats". But yeah Amway defenders are not numbers people. If you talk numbers other than dreaming about the wealth that a 6-4-2 (or whatever version their group worships) will bring with a best case scenario and assuming an infinite population where prospects don't overlap, if you talk numbers other than in this context, then you are negative and lazy.

Anyway, let's go with the 98% in Amway. If 98% sign up in Amway will loose, they must sign up very low quality people, people who cannot make a success of a tried and tested solid opportunity where it is said they merely have to follow a recipe for 10-15 hours per week. Herein lies a big irony. I've said for a while, the people who think the least of those who have taken the bait to join, are not critics of Amway, but Amway defenders. The outside world thinks so many people in Amway fail because the system is not what it promises. Amway defenders think so many people fail because those in Amway groups are useless.

So which is it? Is the Amway plan useless, or are 98% of people in Amway groups useless?

Anonymous said...

Probably both, Kwaaikat. Many years of commentary and analysis here have clearly demonstrated that the Amway Plan" is basically unworkable, and that the great majority of IBOs have no real chance. But as I have said before, Amway deliberately seeks out the less educated and less experienced part of the population, because they are the ones who are more easily tricked by love-bombing, unrealistic dreams, and financial double-talk.

Amway is in fact frightened about trying to recruit intelligent, independent-minded, and self-confident persons. The euphemism that they use for such people is "unteachable." In other words, if you have a mind of your own, can analyze evidence, and are not tricked by love-bombing and rah-rah rallies, they you are not likely to be sucked into the Amway scam.
